Heidi Watney, born May 19, 1981, is an American sportscaster as well as a reporter on Apple TV+. Her prior experience in sportscasting includes work at the University of San Diego, New England Sports Network (Boston), Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Los Angeles), and two stations in Fresno. Watney attended Clovis West High School in Fresno, participating in hurdles, diving, gymnastics and cheerleading. One of her achievements was being an National Merit Scholar. She attended the University of San Diego with an academic scholarship. In 2003 she graduated from the university with high distinction. Watney was the Miss California USA 2002 runner-up. Watney is the mother of golf professional Nick Watney. [7] Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel, stated that Watney was his name and was the one who invented the character Mark Watney from it. She was named on an Red Sox broadcast.
