Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the U.S. She's worked as an editor since the year 1995. Feminist Frequency is a web site which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of female characters in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and award-winning feminist for nearly 10 years. She is the author and director of executive for Feminist Frequency which is an education, non-profit website that explores representations of women in popular culture narratives. Aiming to break down the stereotypes associated with women in popular culture, she is a vocal advocate for issues relating to the targeted harassment of women and the other marginalized groups of the Internet space. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the fields of social thought and political science from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaking. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism since a young time. When she graduated in 2009, still studying at university she launched her Feminist Frequency web site.
